LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi have asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not to use ‘powers of his office’ till the decision of the Panama Papers case.
Speaking at the Iftar dinner they hosted for Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirjul Haq, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed and Pakistan Awami Tahreek secretary general Khurram Nawaz Gandapur , Mr Shujaat said it was not the joint investigation team (JIT) but the Supreme Court which would decide the Panama Papers case.
“Nawaz Sharif should not use the power of his office (of prime minister) till the decision of SC on Panama case,” he said and added the PML-N wanted to make the JIT probing the offshore holdings of Nawaz Sharif and his children controversial. “Now the time has changed as this time, the PML-N can’t attack the SC,” he said.
Pervaiz Elahi said some opposition parties had agreed to form an electoral reforms committee, headed by Sirajul Haq, as electoral reforms were need of the hour.
FAISALABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) Leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has advised all the parties to forget the Dawn Leaks and focus instead on the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) of Panama case.
Addressing PML Workers Convention in Faisalabad, Pervaiz Elahi said that the rulers are traders who made money even in the Ashiyana Housing Scheme. He claimed that the government’s claims about the end of load shedding are also lies. He added that consumers were being provided electricity at Rs 18 per unit.
Pervez Elahi said that Kalabagh Dam must be made and it can be renamed to Pakistan Dam if someone has a problem with the name. He announced that PML would provide free electricity to the farmers when in power. He claimed that half the bill of the tube-well was borne by the government during his tenure.
He added that Kalabagh Dam will help everyone and Sindh will have surplus water. He said that all others were lying on Kalabagh Dam. He said that Bhasha Dam would take 12 years to complete while Kalabagh Dam could be made within 6 years only.
He claimed that factories were running during his tenure while they have been shut down today. He added that one of PML-N minister from Faisalabad was the mastermind of Model Town tragedy in 2014.
Pervaiz Elahi challenged that there were more development works in his tenure than Shehbaz Sharif’s tenure. He added that the only thing rising in the country under the current government was number of robberies and suicides.
SIALKOT: Pakistan Muslim League Leader and Former Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi says he will build Kalabagh dam after coming into power with victory in the 2018 general election.
“Early establishment of the dam is the need of the hour and the PML has put it on top of its agenda for national prosperity and development,” he said at a convention of the party workers held here on Thursday.
He also pledged to provide affordable electricity to the masses at the rate of Rs3 per unit all over the country.
He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had no moral right to stay in power after the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Panama Papers’ case.
He said Nawaz Sharif was not “Sadiq” and “Ameen” as observed by the SC judges but still he was not ready to quit. He urged the premier to tender resignation in the national interest and face the public court.
He alleged that the rulers were plundering the national wealth and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was spending Punjab’s 63pc budget only in Lahore by neglecting the other parts of the province.
The PML workers kept chanting “Go Nawaz go” slogan during the workers’ convention.
Pakistan Muslim League central leader and EX Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said the PML will construct Kalabagh Dam and provide electricity to consumers for Rs3 per unit instead of Rs16 while agricultural tube-well will get free power.
After construction of the dam, Sindh will get maximum sweet water whereas Punjab will get water after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. "We will also end war among the provinces," he said while addressing a grand workers convention in Sargodha on Wednesday.
Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Senior leader and former Chief Minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that whatever the verdict of the Panama case, the current federal government is breathing its last and those in power were alive only in government advertisements.
“The leaders of the N league have made lives of the people miserable and they have been thrown out of the public’s hearts. They copied our Rescue 1122 service and other welfare projects, staging flop dramas of motorcycle ambulances and mobile hospitals.During their tenure there is no education in schools, no medicine in hospitals and, no law or order anywhere,” he said, addressing a grand workers convention at Abbaspur in Multan on Sunday.
The convention was attended by farmers, workers, lawyers, and people from all spheres of life in large numbers who kept raising enthusiastic slogans throughout the proceedings.
Ch. Parvez Elahi said that the people of Multan had won his heart.
“There is no governance visible anywhere, and the two Sharif brothers are merely are earning commissions. They are not concerned about grievances and problems of the people; they are only staging dramas of sympathy.
One brother giving away hospitals on contract and the other brother is doing a health-card drama. Where can a poor man go with his health card?” Elahi wondered out loud.
He said that Shehbaz Sharif had closed down 10,000 schools and another 10,000 were being leased out to NGOs on contract.
He said that the PML Government had established patrol posts for reducing crime but the project was later scraped by the PML-N . The army is called even for holding a cricket match, Elahi remarked.
“If the army is going to do everything, then what is the government for?” he asked.
“During our tenure, water was ensured till the tail, 40 small dams were constructed, thousands of acres of land were provided with water, and we established institutions for beggars, deaf, and dumb children. Our Government worked for the betterment of the common and poor peoples . We will come to power once again and render even better services than before,” the party leader said.
A very warm and enthusiastic welcome was accorded to Ch Parvez Elahi and flower petals were showered on him. Slogans in support of Ch Shujat Hussain, Ch Parvez Elahi, and Ch. Moonis Elahi were continuously raised, including the slogan of ‘janoobi Punjab ka wahid sahara Parvez Elahi hamara’.
Addressing the convention, PML Central Secretary General Tariq Bashir Cheema said that Ch Parvez Elahi had worked for the removal of deprivation of backward areas and was the first to announce making South Punjab a separate province.
Basharat Raja said that the provision of education and health facilities was the responsibility of the government and should have been prioritized ahead of the metro bus.
The convention was also addressed by Malik Mureed Abbas Bappi and Sardar Arif Gurmani. MPA Dr Muhammad Afzal, Malik Jamshed Bappi, Ch Ehsan, Ch Tariq Gujjar, Qazi Ehsanul Haq, Makhdoom Babar, Rana Ashraf, Ch Mohammad Altaf, Amir Saeed Raan, Azhar Khan, Shamim Akhtar, Yasmin Khakwani, Rehana Kausar, Sajida Parveen and other PML leaders were also present on the occasion.
