Every new born child in Punjab is under debt of lakhs of rupees due to faulty policies of N League: Moonis Elahi

Lahore (November 05, 2012) Pakistan Muslim League central leader and MPA Moonis Elahi has said that because of faulty policies N-League every new born child in Punjab is under debt of lakhs of rupees, N-League has destroyed prosperous Punjab, banks and Shahbaz Sharif who has wasted billions of rupees on flop schemes should now be ready to be accountable to the people.

He said this while addressing the Workers Convention in Shakkargarh district Narowal today. The Convention was also addressed by Peoples Party MNA Tariq Anees, PML MPA Col (Retd) Muhammad Abbas, former MPAs Ch Karamat Ali and Ch Yaqoob and former Nazim Abid Dhillon.

Moonis Elahi said that in 2002, in view of importance of Narowal, we had completed development works worth five billion rupees during our five years period whereas Sharif Brothers have spent less than one billion of rupees during their previous and present era together for the development of this district. He said we had constructed 70 kilometers long pukka water courses in Narowal, improved irrigation system, checked water theft, provided lazer land levelers at the Union Councils levels and on top of everything else, remitted Abiana of the small farmers. He said that we had got loans for the farmers of Punjab from banks on easy terms only at 5 per cent markup and had exempted the cultivators of twelve and half acres of land from Agriculture Tax

Continuing Moonis Elahi said that during our tenure we had achieved very clear success in every field including education, health, agriculture, roads, industry, law and order in order to turn Punjab into a real welfare province. He said in order to turned Punjab into a bankrupt province has started flop schemes like Sasti Roti Scheme, Langar Scheme, Food Stamp Scheme, Yellow Cab Scheme, Ashiana Housing Scheme, Daanish Schools, Lap Tops, Green Tractors Scheme and now have started Metro Bus in Lahore also thus snatching every loaf of bread from the mouths of the people of Punjab. He said because of this, even the State Bank of Pakistan has been forced to say that because of faulty policies of N-League every new child in Punjab is under debt of lakhs of rupees.

Moonis Elahi said further that we had provided jobs to lakhs of people in the province during our tenure whereas during the rule of N-League as many as 1.5 crore people have been rendered unemployed, during our tenure 90 lakh people crossed the poverty line and moved up and in N-League period 2. 5 crore people have gone below the poverty line, nobody's honour is safe today, crime rate is increasing rapidly, innocent people are being implicated in false cases and made victims of fake encounters, Pakistan Muslim League leaders and workers are also being harassed and false cases being registered against them whereas on the other hand the real culprits are roaming free and flying in helicopters

Moonis Elahi asked the gathering whether today's Punjab is better or of the tenure of Ch Parvez Elahi was better. He said that we had taken steps to eliminate poverty whereas N-League is busy in eliminating the poor instead of poverty. He said Insha-Allah on coming power we would take steps for ensuring marked improvement not only in Narowal but also in every constituency of the Punjab.

Peoples Party MNA Tariq Anees welcomed Moonis Elahi on visiting Shakkargarh and said that after winning the bye-elections we would present MPA's seat as a gift to Moonis Elahi. He said that alliance between the Peoples Party Pakistan Muslim League have made the opponents sleepless.

PML MPA Col (R) Muhammad Abbas welcomed Chief Minister of 2013 Moonis Elahi to the Workers Convention and said that we would move step in step with Moonis Elahi who is carrying forward manifesto of Ch Parvez Elahi. He said Ch Parvez Elahi during his tenure as the Chief Minister had provided funds of billions of rupees and this is the reason that Pakistan Muslim League is popular in the Punjab even today like in the past. Lahore: 31-10-2012: Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa called on Pakistan Muslim League President Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi at their residence here today.

During the meeting, in which Moonis Elahi was also present, views were exchanged at some length regarding overall Punjab situation and other important matters. They also discussed the forthcoming bye-elections being held to fill the vacant seats of the National and Provincial Assemblies.

On this occasion Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa said that Pakistan Peoples’ Party alliance with Pakistan Muslim League is not for some time, we attach great importance to this alliance, both the parties will not only contest the bye-elections hand in hand with each other to defeat the opponents but also in the general elections and get the air out of balloons of those raising empty slogans.

Ch Shujat Hussain and Ch Parvez Elahi maintained that they entered into alliance with the Peoples Party was not for personal interests but in the larger interests of the nation and the country and it would remain intact. They said that like bye-elections, both the parties would put up best candidates through seat adjustment in the general elections as well adding that the results of the elections would be quite humiliating for the opponents contrary to all their tall claims.

ISLAMABAD (INP) - PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has accepted the challenge by the PML-N to debate in the National Assembly the corruption allegations against Moonis Elahi. Since the deal between Warraich family and the NICL had been cancelled, there was no substance in the propaganda launched by PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif against Moonis Elahi, he said. 

In an exclusive interview with INP news agency, Shujaat said the PML-Q had not been provided any opportunity to be heard properly at any forum which was against the principles of justice. 

He said since day one, they were clear indications that this campaign had been launched by the Sharif family. “Now their claim to debate the issue in the National Assembly will unmask their real face.” 

“The propaganda against Moonis was so strong and well-planned that no court was ready to listen to the version of my family,” Shujaat said, adding: “But the PML-N’s claim to debate the issue in parliament would also provide us an opportunity to establish facts against the fiction.”
Shujaat argued how justice could be done if the defendant was not properly heard and only fiction had been preferred to facts.



 
About his party’s alliance with the ruling PPP, he said his party was looking for a long-term strategic partnership with the PPP and despite some difficulties, it would opt for seat adjustments with the ruling party in next elections

Supreme Court admits Ch. Shujaat Hussain, Moonis Elahi's pleas for Zafar Qureshi's removal

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday admitted for hearing three applications moved by PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, says a press release issued by the PML-Q on Thursday.

The applications seek court orders to remove FIA additional director general Zafar Qureshi from the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam probe and start an investigation against him.

In the applications, Chaudhry Shujaat and Moonis Elahi say the main accused in the NICL scam, Habibullah Waraich and family, has deposited all required amount to the FIA, but Moonis Elahi, his wife and other family members were being harassed by Zafar Qureshi.

A Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice 

Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, Justice Sair Ali and Justice Ghulam Rabbani directed Zafar Qureshi to submit reply on the application filed by the Chaudhry family, the press release says.

During the proceedings of the case, the chief justice said the Chaudhrys belonged to a respectable family and the investigators should keep this fact in mind while dealing with them. 

The court said any investigation into the bank accounts, which are not linked to transactions vis-a-vis the NICL scam, would be against rules.

Chaudhry Shujaat and Moonis Elahi say Qureshi had levelled baseless allegations against the applicants and had stated that he was facing death threats from the Chaudhrys. 

Senator Wasim Sajjad, the counsel for Ch Shujaat, told the court during the proceedings that the Waraich family had deposited the entire required amount with the FIA and no amount was liable, but the FIA officials were still harassing Moonis Elahi and his family members.

“Investigation into other accounts of Ch Moonis has been also launched. His accounts have been frozen, while the credit cards of his children are also being sought for investigation purpose that is uncalled for,” he added. He said the Chaudhry family was being targeted on political grounds. A large number of parliamentarians and PML-Q workers were present on the occasion in the courtroom no. 1 of the apex court building. 

Prominent of those were PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed, PML-Q parliamentary leader in National Assembly Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, and others.

He said the Chaudhrys were basically businessmen and thus it was natural to have heavy amounts in their accounts for business purpose. He said the Chaudhry family was being targeted on political whims which should be stopped. A large number of parliamentarians and PML workers were present on the occasion in the courtroom No.1 of the apex court building. Prominent of those were PML Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed, PML parliamentary Leader in the national assembly Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, President PML KP Engineer Amir Muqam, MNAs Sh Waqas Akram, Marvi Memon, Prince Nawaz Allai, Pir Aslam Bodla and others.

Moonis Elahi : This is my country and I will never run away to Jeddah or England.

Lahore (March 17, 2011) Moonis Elahi, senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League while voluntarily courting his arrest at the Lahore FIA office has categorically denied corruption charges leveled against him and has said that by Allah’s grace he will be honourably acquitted. Those people should be ashamed of themselves who had said that the PML top brass met President Zardari in connection with my case. I have full faith in the court but none in the FIA and similar organization. Persecution is nothing new for my family. Like my elders, I am also not scared of persecution. This is my country and I will never run away to Jeddah or England. When Rehman Malik arrested Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi I was in England from where I spoke with Chaudhry Shujat Hussain who told me not to worry as it may be my turn in times to come. 


Moonis Elahi looked visibly confident when he stepped out of his car outside the Lahore FIA office where he was greeted by a very large presence of highly charged party workers who chanted slogans assuring Moonis Elahi of their love and support. There are reports of rallies staged in protest against Moonis Elahi’s arrest throughout Punjab including Multan, Gujrawnala, Sialkot, Wazirabad, Kamokey, Bhai Phero, Phool Nagar, Gujrat, Okara, Sheikupura, Kasur and Sarogdha. 


The biggest protest rally was brought out at the Kamla Chowk Lahore where thousands of Moonis Elahi’s supporters turned out. The protesters staged a sit in and burnt tyres. Early addressing the media outside the FIA Office Moonis Elahi challenging his accusers said that they would get tired of their unfair persecution but he would not deter from his fight against injustice. They cannot keep me in as I am absolutely innocent, I am not involved in any corruption and if they prove me wrong I will pay them double the amount they have accused me of, Moonis Elahi declared. He refused to disclose the names of the real actors behind the false case against him saying that his elders had told him to withhold their names till the right time. 


Earlier when Moonis Elahi left his house to court arrest at the FIA office he was sent off by Chaudhry Parvez Elahi. Moonis Elahi was accompanied to the FIA office by Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, Rasikh Elahi, Shafay Hussain, Maj. (R) Tahir Sadiq, Chaudhry Ameer Hussain, Amir Sultan Cheema, Rizwan Mumtaz Ali, Seemal Kamran, Majida Zaidi, Amna Ulfat, Sajid Bhatti, Mian Azhar Javed, Chaudhry Yousuf Ahad, Haji Hanif, Idrees Hanif and a large number of party workers and supporters.

Ch. Shujaat Hussain, Imran Khan agree to cooperate on national issues

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf have agreed on cooperating with each other over crucial issues and continuing relationship in greater national interest. 

The decision was taken by the top leaders of both parties, who met at the residence of PTI chief Imran Khan on Saturday. PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheeruddin and MPA Chaudhry Moonis Elahi were members of the PML-Q delegation, which called on Imran Khan. The PTI leaders — Omar Sarfraz Cheema and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed — also attended the meeting. The meeting discussed in detail current political situation in country, and the challenges facing the federation. It was of consensus view that an alliance among political forces was a need of the hour to overcome challenges confronting the country and foil designs of elements causing chaos in the country. Both the parties also agreed on opposing any move to change the blasphemy law and working for Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat. 

Sources said both parties believed the PML-N was not playing the role of a genuine opposition, and it was supporting the government on almost all crucial issues. The performance of both provincial and federal governments came under discussion during the meeting. 

Later, talking to journalists, Ch Shujaat said the meeting discussed all national issues. He said the PML-Q wanted an alliance with the political forces which could block the way of any conspiracy against the country. 

Praising the PTI chief’s role as a politician, he said Imran’s abilities had been acknowledged even by his opponents, beyond any doubt. Imran said on the occasion the country’s situation was deplorable under the incumbent rulers and said the PML-Q was the only party which was playing the role of a true opposition in parliament. He said the political figures shared views with each other and this process would also continue in future as well. About the alliance with the PML-Q, Imran said at present there was only one alliance in the country which was between Zardari and Nawaz, who were protecting each other. 

Meanwhile, talking to The News, PML-Q Secretary Information Senator Kamil Ali Agha said the meeting discussed all core issues. He said the possibility of an alliance between the PML-Q and the PTI during local bodies’ polls or general elections was not discussed during the meeting. However, the issue might come under discussion in future sittings, he added.

Lahore ( April 28, 2010) The unholy alliance between N League and PPP has brought nothing but misery for the people. Punjab, once the most prosperous province of the country under our PML government is now financially the most backward under N League. N League’s “Qabza” government has failed on all fronts and the day is not far when Pakistan Muslim League together with people will free Punjab from its clutches. Pakistan Muslim League’s workers who have braved the vindictive tactics of the rulers and stood firm in the face of all persecution are the party’s greatest asset.

These views were expressed by Moonis Elahi, central leader of Pakistan Muslim League to a jam-packed Pakistan Muslim League, Kasur Workers’ convention held at the PML House auditorium in Lahore today. The PML workers’ convention was also addressed by eminent party leaders and leading PML representatives from Kasur.

The speakers included Opposition Leader Chaudhry Zaheer-ur-Din, Rana Imtiaz, Maqsood Sabir Ansari, Raza Ali Shamas, Maqbool Sabir Ansari, Malik Ahmed Ali, Sardar Shoukat Dogar, Malik Ahmed Saeed Khan, Sardar Atif Nakai, Nasir Mehmood Gill, Haji Sarfraz Khan, Awais Nakai and Rana Muhammad Aqeel. The speakers lauded the unprecedented development work carried out in Kasur like in other parts of Punjab during Chaudhry Pervez Elahi’s period and lamented at the present government’s failure in providing even an iota of PML government’s past services to the public.

The speakers from Kasur severely lashed out at the current deplorable economic, social and law and order conditions prevailing in Kasur on account of the misrule of N League’s Punjab government. They blamed N League for depriving Kasur of its development share in order to take revenge from the district for standing in support of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. They strongly condemned N League for not releasing funds for the construction of Lahore-Kasur road and Kasur-Depalpur road as these projects were initiated by the previous government. In his presidential address, central leader of Pakistan Muslim League, Moonis Elahi thanked the PML leaders and workers from Kasur for their unflinching support to the party and praised them for attending the convention in such a huge number particularly during wheat harvest time.

Moonis Elahi assured the Kasur party workers of his resolve to give top preference in all matters to the party workers and lauded them for their loyalty to Pakistan, Quaid e Azam and Pakistan Muslim League. He particularly appreciated their support to the party despite N League’s vindictive tactics.

Moonis Elahi warned the Kasur district police and civil administration officials to refrain from political persecution of PML workers and declared that persecutors will be brought to book when the party returns in the government. Moonis Elahi blamed N League for being insensitive to the miseries of the people and declared that dooms day was fast approaching for the rulers who were indifferent to the problems of the people.

He said that Punjab was currently ruled by those who immediately rush to the wash rooms to clean their hands after touching the poor. Pakistan Muslim League’s central leader blamed the N League and PPP alliance for bringing unheard of miseries on the poor in the shape of back-breaking inflation, sky-rocketing unemployment and incessant load shedding. He declared that the people of Punjab will never forgive N League for destroying the peace and prosperity of the province.

GHQ attack is a conspiracy against the country: Moonis Elahi

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and party leaders Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi condemned the terrorist attack at the GHQ and said such acts were a conspiracy against the country and the government should deal with such anti-state elements sternly.

A full house raised their hands to re-elect Ch Pervaiz Elahi as the President of Pakistan Muslim League, Punjab yesterday in Lahore. This was the third election of Pakistan Muslim League under the Chaudhrys. The election venue was the historic Pakistan Muslim League House, Lahore - a building which has witnessed all epoch making political movements in the nation’s history taking shape under its roof. The air conditioned marquee was jam-packed with the party’s Punjab General Council members who had come from all parts of the province. The party leaders, MPAs and senior politicians including former President of Pakistan Farooq Leghari and former federal minister Sardar Sher Afghan were also present.

The mood of the election proceedings was buoyant and spirited. It was a time of re election and re union. There were many PML colleagues who were meeting after Feb, 08 elections. With sweltering heat outside along with refreshments the participants were also treated to a medley of patriotic party videos being projected on a giant TV screen inside the covered venue. The sweet mix of Seraiki and Punjabi languages in the air was a clear proof of the kind of support the Chaudhrys enjoyed on ground which was evident from the gathering that included a large number of political workers and party supporters who had come from rural and semi urban areas of the province.

Moonis Elahi, was warmly welcoming the participants inside the covered area. In the last few years his role in party politics has also become very important and the way people were gathered around him was evident of the fact. By eleven o clock the venue was full and there were still people pouring in. Another distinct feature of this gathering was the participants’ uncensored and seemingly straight from the heart comments about Humayun Akhtar, Hamid Nasir Chattha and other members of the dissident group. The beauty of a political party is its workers and there were many young and old League workers present in the gathering which was surely a healthy sign.

Pakistan Muslim League’s women MPAs have now become a very active and vocal political group and their impressive presence at the session was a sign of their loyalty to the leadership. The formal meeting of the Punjab Council began with recitation from the Holy Quran by former provincial minister from South Punjab Iqbal Khan Khakwani. The party provincial election commissioner, Jehangir Jhoja then came to the dais and announced the election results. Amid roaring applause, Ch Pervaiz Elahi and Ch Zaheer ud din were declared as unopposed winners for the positions of provincial party president and general secretary respectively. The conduct of the whole meeting smacked of a political culture characteristic of a mature political organization. After the results announcement the general consent of the council members was sought and the members unanimously endorsed the decision. Following this endorsement, key party members were individually invited to read out resolutions pertaining to rising prices, deteriorating economy, drone attacks, building of new dams including Kalabagh dam, water shortage for agriculture, early return of IDPs and load shedding. All resolutions were unanimously adopted by the gathering.

It seemed quite evident from the gathering and their mood and tone that the Chaudhrys have decided to take on the dissidents and they want to prove that unlike the earlier government sponsored leagues this one has its roots in the masses. Though Chaudhrys are known for their humility but this time round one of their obvious motives seemed to send an all out signal to different players of Pakistani politics that the Chaudhrys are a political force to reckon with.

Lahore (8 July, 2009) An overwhelming presence of PML General Council members at the party election proves that the sincere and loyal leaders and workers of the party have shunned politics of intrigue and conspiracy. The real pillars of Pakistan Muslim League are its elected representatives, ticket holders and our 5 successful years of an unprecedented service to the people. These views were expressed by Ch.Pervaiz Elahi during his address to a jam packed gathering of his party members after he was elected unopposed by the Punjab General Council members along with Ch. Zaheer ud din as the provincial General Secretary.

Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that a strong Muslim League was the guarantor of a strong Pakistan and a bright future of the coming generations. He said that Pakistan Muslim League had given us honor and recognition and now it was payback time. He strongly condemned the handful of intriguers who were trying to weaken the strong democratic culture of Pakistan Muslim League. He declared that today’s gathering was enough to silence the intriguers and Pakistan Muslim League was not the Convention League of the past but a vibrant and popular political party with countless dedicated workers throughout the country.

He said that the intriguers had been asking for party elections for the last year and a half and now when the party was holding the elections the intriguers had suddenly taken a u turn.He thanked his party workers and colleagues for upholding the party’s constitution and for reposing their confidence in his leadership. He praised different wings of the party for their effective role in the party reorganization.

He specially recognized the services of the minorities wing of Pakistan Muslim League and said that the minorities had given us support on count of our services for them. He condemned the drawing room politicians for their intrigues against the party and said that no one could dare hijack Pakistan Muslim League from its sincere and loyal workers.Ch Pervaiz Elahi reminded his party colleagues and workers of the various contributions and achievements of PML government in Punjab from 2002 to 2007.He said that his government had done more for the province in its 5 years than all the work done by the previous governments put together since independence.

He said that his government had the benefit of all the people of the province in mind and their development plans were not confined to a few cities. He claimed that to address poverty and deprivation in South Punjab his government had spent 117 billion rupees in the areas of health, education, agriculture, industry, roads and infrastructure development Among his government’s various other services in Punjab he mentioned the up gradation of Tonsa Barage, free books and education upto matric, provision of free medicines in hospital emergencies, tax exemption to farmers with small land holdings and on 5 marla homes.

He claimed that while his government had built 7 underpasses alone the present Punjab government could not even complete one bridge at Thokar Niaz Beg, Lahore. He said that the N League government also tried to do away with the 1122 emergency service as well as the traffic wardens system but failed because of the public approval of these initiatives. Commenting on the grave law and order situation in the province he expressed his serious concern over the 30% rise in crime rate as compared to his government’s highly low rate of crimes. He also criticized the anti farmer policies and decisions of the present Punjab government. Commenting on the issue of power generation Ch. Pervaiz Elahi reaffirmed his party’s unflinching support to the construction of all water dam projects approved between 2002 and 2007 including Kalabagh dam.

Moonis Elahi to attend the world politicans seminar in Germany

Moonis Elahi , leader of Pakistan Muslim League to attend a 6 day “The Friedrich Naumann Foundation für die Freiheit” Seminar on political leadership being held in Germany under the aegis of the International Academy for leadership.

This year Moonis Elahi is the only politician from Pakistan who has been invited to attend this high profile seminar. The participants from 24 countries around the globe comprising leading politicians will discuss amongst other issues the present state of politics, values and constraints of democratic leadership along with the importance of communication and moderation.

This seminar will provide an opportunity to Moonis Elahi for interaction with politicians of other countries and to inform and educate them about the current political situation in Pakistan and how the global community can help and assist Pakistan in its current war against the twin afflictions of poverty and terrorism.
