LAHORE

President PML-Q, Punjab, Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi has said the party was united and would continue to make efforts to protect the solidarity of the country in this critical hour.

Addressing a meeting of the party’s women MPAs from Punjab at his residence here on Saturday, the former Punjab chief minister said the PPP and the PML-N jointly contested the election and both the parties should also work together to take the country out of crisis. He said from the very outset, the government had been unable to solve the oil, electricity and food crises.

The PML-Q leader said those who claimed to sell Roti for Rs 2 were merely befooling the nation and politicizing the issue.

He added that in reality, it was nothing but a gimmick played by the present rulers who were, in fact, providing the people with unhygienic and hazardous food.

Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi went on to say that during the five years of the PML-Q government, there was no such crisis in the country. He said the PML-Q government provided Atta to the entire country, adding there was no food crisis during the time but unfortunately a famine-like situation had been created in the present tenure.

Commenting upon the ongoing power crisis, he said the present government was unable to control load shedding and the angry population was burning the effigy of important figures and electricity bills. He said the ruling parties should fulfill the promises made with the nation before the polls.

Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi also appreciated the commitment of party MPAs with the party and said those who ahd joined the Forward Bloc of the party were now repenting on their hasty action. He said all the dreams of the Forward Bloc members to get important portfolios and ministry in the government had been shattered to ground.

He said the members of the Forward Bloc had been termed as ‘Turncoats’ by the PPP whereas the PML-Q was planning to file reference against them.

Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Chaudhary Zaheer ud Din, senior provincial leader Chaudhary Moonis Elahi and other party legislators were also present on the occasion.

The women members present on the occasion also demanded the party leadership to file reference against the party dissidents.
